Nutrition-Food Classes 1 [SC F2]

We eat everyday. Without food, we still can survive for severals days and even a week. What do you love to eat? Chocolate? Ice cream? Pizza? hmm, Nyummy!

Let's learn about nutrition. Chapter 2 Form 2.

First, we need to learn about Classes of Food.

1-carbohydrates
2-protein
3-fats
4-vitamins
5-minerals

6-water

Carbohydrates
carbohydrates food (link)
Example:- rice, wheat, bread, cereals
Function:-give energy
Food test:-Iodine test
Lack of carbohydrates;- no energy
Excess carbohydrates:-Obesity
obesity *big stomach*


Proteins
Proteins food (link)

Example:- egg, fish, meats, lentils, chicken
Function:-for growth, repair cell tissues
Food test:- use Millon's reagent
Lack of proteins;- kwashiorkor *organs inside the body swelling, became skinny*

Excess proteins:-harmful to body
